5 Black Dancers
It’s black history month! And what better way to celebrate than highlighting some influential black dancers.
- Misty Copeland
Copeland has been invested in ballet since the age of 13. She joined the American Ballet Theatre corps de ballet and has been featured in many commercials and TV shows.
- Ebony Williams
While Williams is now on staff at the Broadway Dance Center, she spent many seasons at the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet. She can also dance hip-hop as she performed with artists such as Rihanna, Ciarra, and was a dancer in Beyonce’s Single Ladies.
- tWitch
This man did many things from dancing, choreographing, acting, and being on television. He finished in second place on So You Think You Can Dance.
- Aaliyah
Aaliyah has done it all from acting, to modeling, to dancing. She was once named “Top 25 Dancers of All Time” on BET. Aaliyah has been successful in singing as well.
- Bill “Bojangles” Robinson
Not only was Robinson a professional dancer, he invented the stair tap dance. He is also known for his personality and performances on stage.
