An Overview Of Dance Styles: Part 2
We’re back with 5 more dance styles! (If you need an overview of ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, and/or modern, check out An Overview Of Dance Styles: Part 1.) Can you believe how many styles of dance there are?! One of the ways dance is different from other sports is its variety. There’s no one way to dance (unless the style has certain foundations). So, without further ado, here are 5 more dance styles you might want to check out!
- Hip-Hop
This one is pretty well known, but here’s a little info. This style uses freestyle, popping, locking, and breaking to create living art (dancing).
- Acro
Ever wanted to incorporate tricks into dance? This may be the style for you. Acro combines both dance technique and acrobatic skills. Although, you may not be performing on a mat.
- Musical Theatre
Do you enjoy acting AND dancing? If so, this may be the style for you. By combining tap, jazz, ballet, and acting, this style is perfect for Broadway.
- Salsa
This latin style combines both Cuban dance styles and American styles to form the dancing you see today.
- Lyrical
Not to be confused with contemporary or modern, this style uses ballet and jazz techniques to express emotions.
So, have any of these styles piqued your interest? Did we miss any? And make sure to follow our social media @more_than_dancers for more dance-related content.
