Spread Cheer to Your Classmates
The holiday season is about spending time with those who you love. Grab your closest friends and spend some time with them. You could make cards, decorate, or watch a movie together!
Pro-tip: Check out Disney’s new Nutcracker movie featuring Misty Copeland.
Make a Christmas Dance
Dance your way into the season by making up a Christmas dance! It is a great way to listen to some holiday music and to have a lot of fun with your friends. Have even more fun by trying to teach your family a routine! You are sure to have a few good laughs!
Offer Up Your Talent
Offer up your dance talents this holiday season and put a smile on some people’s face. Have a parent reach out to a nursing home or a community center to see if they would want a holiday performance. This gives you the opportunity to work on your performance skills and also is a way to spread some cheer.
Make an Appreciation Post
The studio is our second home and we love it! So, let the world know by giving an appreciation post on Instagram. Tag your studio and give a #lovemystudio #appreciationpost.
Thank the Mailman
The holidays are a time to thank everyone including the mailman. Think of all the leotards and shoes he/she has delivered to your doorstep. Slide a thank you note and hand warmers inside your mailbox or leave a candy bar to show your appreciation and spread a little cheer.
Seek Out New Company
Dance is a great place to make many friends! Take time to step outside of your circle and recognize someone that may need a new friend or an extra friend. Saying “hello” or giving them a compliment is a great way to get started.
Volunteer Your Time
Many organizations and companies can use an extra hand during the holiday season. Volunteer your time at a local non-profit or help those who have helped you in the past. Volunteering your time could also mean simply helping out your parents and/or guardian's around the house.
Pro-tip: Try to see if you could volunteer at the theater you typically perform at.
Support Other Artist
We love seeing other artists perform! The holiday season is a great time to show your support for others. Grab some friends and go and see a local performance. This helps promote the arts in your community and will also be a great way to celebrate the season!
