My name is Danna and I am 11 years old. I live in Jalisco, México. My studio is Paty Geyer Dance Center PGDC.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

I started going to ballet class at 6 years old. My mom was the one who introduced me to this amazing world. I found my passion for dance immediately. 💓
I have participated in several competitions, obtaining very good places and scholarships to renowned ballet schools in the USA. The Youth American Grand Prix marked my vision for my future. I attended in 2022 like a finalist, where I had the opportunity to take classes with the greatest teachers in the ballet world. In 2023 I’ll have the opportunity to represent Mexico 🇲🇽 again in the YAGP FINALS, a pass obtained during YGP Mexico 2022 as well as Top 12 of Classical, and I got a scholarship to study at Houston Ballet Academy in the USA.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

It’s definitely not easy, ballet is never complete, and you never know everything. It takes a lot of time, commitment, focus, and overall love and patience to achieve your dreams. So you have to be willing to give your best and enjoy the process.

What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?

I’m always working on my flexibility and getting my legs extended and straight.

Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?

My parents taught me to think. The best thing you can do is stay in your own way. There will always be someone who has an opinion. That has nothing to do with me. I am so blessed to have an amazing and supportive family, friends, and teachers.
