Dance Student Spotlight: Davelyn Abraham

My name is Davelyn Abraham, and I am 11 years old. I was born and live in Bandung, Indonesia. My ballet school is Clara Ballet School, Bandung.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

I started my ballet journey because my mom believed I was born for it 😄. My mom and dad were couple dancers at church. She said that I always move when listening to music at church since I was still in her tummy 😁. When I was 3 years old, my mom sent me to Marlupi Dance Academy, Bandung. But because it was far from my house, a year later, I was transferred to Clara Ballet School, Bandung, until now 💖. As time went on, I finally realized that I fell in love with ballet. It has become my dream and my passion. It's my life 💕.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

I live my ballet life because I love it. It's not a burden for me. I just live my dream and enjoy every moment. My mom has told me a thousand times that each person has their own race on their own track. So all I need to do is just focus on my track and run as fast as possible to be the best version of myself according to the blueprint God created when He designed me. A grateful heart is the key to an easy life 💖.

What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?

I don't want to be separated from my parents 😄.

Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?

I have wonderful parents and teachers who support me with no limit. It is more than anything to me 😇.

How do you conquer negative talk?

Take it in prayer, focus on my track, go up and pursue my dreams.

What is your favorite quote?

Well, this quote comes from my mom, and now it's become a quote of my life's purpose. "Dancing with the King is my passion."

So, what’s next? Any big plans?

I will join IBDI at Marlupi Dance Academy, Indonesia in June. And take a scholarship from NGgeneration for online Summer School at Dutch National Ballet Academy, Netherlands in July.
