Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dancing at the age of 4. I’ve loved dance ever since I was young and knew it was my passion. I have been on my studio’s competition team for 6 years now. I love contemporary, ballet, and jazz. I worked really hard in the studio to get to where I am today!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wouldn’t say things have been easy for me. I work very hard and spend a lot of hours in the studio. This is my passion and what I want to do, so I am willing to put in the time and effort.
What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?
I am learning to work through disappointments and come out better and stronger. I have learned to work hard and never give up on my goals. I try to use my limitations as motivations.
Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?
No, I am very lucky. I have very supportive people around me like my family, friends, and teachers. They’re amazing!
How do you conquer negative talk?
I am very close to my mom. I talk to her. She is very honest with me and helps me.
What is your favorite quote?
“You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream!” - C.S. Lewis
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I will be attending a summer intensive at Ballet Hispanico in NYC. I’m really excited about the next competition season with my studio.
