Dance Student Spotlight: Esme Noronha

Meet Esme Noronha, 7, from Scotland , Indian Academy of Russian Ballet.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

I started taking Ballet Class at the age of 4 years old, not knowing anything about Ballet, as in India Ballet is not yet a famous Dance form, but thanks to my teacher I fell in love with Ballet right after my 1st Class, every since I just wanted to learn and Do Ballet more and more, Thanks to My Ballet Academy I got to participate in The Great Indian Ballet Competition ( GIBC ), which happens in India, I have been participating in this competition from the past three years. It's been few months since I have migrated to Scotland and have recently started class with nkballetschool.

We're always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we've spoken with enough people to know that it's not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

No, not easy at all; Ballet requires a lot of hard work, discipline; you need to learn the right technique, work on your flexibility, nothing comes easy, we have to work hard for it, I got a very long way to go and have to learn a lot, it's not going to to be easy, but it will be worth it at the end.

What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?

None yet.

Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?

No, thankfully, I have very supportive parents, teachers, and family members.

How do you conquer negative talk?

I am still very young to understand negative talk, But I am thankful to be surrounded by very positive and supportive people.

What is your favorite quote?

(1. ) If you can dream it, You can do it.( 2- ) A Dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, hard work, patience.

So, what's next? Any big plans?

I am not sure yet of any big plans, But Ballet is my Passion, and I want to get into a very good Ballet School. There are so many of them and learn with them At the same time go to school and also learn to play the violin; I am very fond of Music. Thank you 💕
