Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

My mom signed my brother and me up one summer for dance on Saturday recreation classes. About 4 years ago we went to support the competition team a couple of times and had a lot of fun. So much the following season, I joined the production and lyrical comp team! Now I do lyrical, production and jazz. Oh, and I forgot to mention I’m in my second year competing for my solo. For recreational, I do hip hop, ballet, and acro.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety for about 3 years, and dance has been my outlet. On days we might be learning a new technique, my teammates might be able to get it immediately, but with their support and my teacher’s, I don’t let it get to me. With focus and hard work, I’m able to work through anything new that’s introduced.

What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?

Having the support of family, friends, and my dance teacher has helped me get through difficult times, especially the pandemic.

How do you conquer negative talk?

I ignore it and not get involved☺️.

What is your favorite quote?

"You can start late, look different, be uncertain, and still succeed." ~ Misty Copeland
Most of my team have been together since they were little, but they still make me feel like I’m a part of them.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?

Continue working on my acro tricks so that maybe I can move up to the next level.
