Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dancing when I was 3 years old and instantly fell in love with the art. I started competing when I was 6 years old.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not easy! I am not naturally flexible at all and spend every day stretching to reach my goals. Choreography didn’t always come easily for me either! Lots and lots of practice!
What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?
Flexibility, and I am a lefty! Everything in dance is mainly on your right side.
Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?
No, thankfully, I’ve had amazing teachers and support!
How do you conquer negative talk?
I shut it down. It’s important, especially in a competitive sport, to encourage others.
What is your favorite quote?
"If you can dream it, you can do it.” - Walt Disney
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For the first time, I have 2 solos in one season! I’m excited to showcase different styles.
