Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dancing when I was 2 years old. I absolutely loved it right away. My first class was tap. Then I started taking classes in other areas of dance as well. One of my favorite parts of dance is making new friends and attending conventions. Currently, I am a Mini Assistant for Intrigue. It was a dream of mine, and I am having the best time of my life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I love to dance so much, and it’s my passion, but I have always had to work extra hard at my technique. I take extra classes with my ballet teacher to help strengthen my legs and work on my feet.
What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?
So far, everything has been amazing, and I always try to appreciate what I am doing. But I would say sometimes I struggle with technical elements, and that can be challenging at times.
Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?
Sometimes if I am not sure of something, I always talk to my mom and dad. My family definitely helps and supports me.
How do you conquer negative talk?
I always tell myself I can do anything as long as I work hard and grateful for what I have. I also take time to chat with my mom about things, which always helps put things in perspective. Saying a little prayer also helps me.
What is your favorite quote?
"Do unto others what you want done unto you." - Confucius
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Currently, I am traveling from city to city as a Mini Assistant with Intrigue Dance Intensive and having the best time of my life. I am so tremendously grateful for this experience and absolutely love tour life. I am really looking forward to our next tour stop in Texas!
