@sofiortegab

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

I started dancing and going to ballet classes when I was 2 years old. Then I also started dancing other styles and going to different studios and courses. And in 2020, I was accepted into the professional dance academy Prover, and daily I practice and dance to accomplish my dreams.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

No, every day I have to train from 9 am to 8 pm and have a special healthy diet, and I also need to go to physiotherapy to take care of my body. But I have always had the support of my parents, and I am so thankful for that.

What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?

That there were not many professional studios in my city, so I had to move to another city.

Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?

Not really, my parents have always supported me, but I had to audition many times to be in a professional dance academy.

How do you conquer negative talk?

I don’t take them personally, and I try always to think positively, and I try to spread peace and happiness.

What is your favorite quote?

“Dance is the hidden language of the soul” ~ Martha Graham
“so I want to share a piece of my soul.” ~ Sofia Carson

So, what’s next? Any big plans?

I would love to win a scholarship to study ballet in another country. And I want to keep becoming every day a better version of myself.
