Should Dancers Stretch/ Workout Over The Holidays?


The holiday season has begun! This means time with the ones you love (and the ones you tolerate, lol). But most importantly, it means a break from those hardcore stretching routines and workouts in dance, right? Well, we reached out to our dance community and asked if dancers should stretch/ workout over the holidays, and here’s what they had to say:


  1. Do it on your own with shorter routines.

Since it’s the holidays, you can lay off the workouts a little bit and give your body a break. 

  1. Maybe not as much as when you’re at the studio but stretch so you don’t feel tight.

It would suck to lose flexibility over the holidays, so try to at least maintain your flexibility.

  1. Do a stretch and a basic workout just to keep moving.

It is always a good idea to keep your muscles warm, especially with the colder weather.

  1. Workout so it’s easier when you get back to the studio.

By maintaining your strength and endurance, it will be easier to get back into the flow of dance.

 

Well, if you were hoping for a break during the holidays, guess you’re out of luck. But now with the time off, you can finally master that skill you were taught in class! Or maybe, you want to get your splits or over splits. Or you can stick to a shorter and easier routine so you can still spend time with your family and friends.
