Meet Jenna Jarboe,12, from Indianapolis Indiana Expressenz Dance Center.
Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dancing when I was two years old and simply fell in love! I joined competition team when I was five and have constantly been working to improve myself! I really am never satisfied and so I never stop training.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, there are always challenges and obstacle to overcome, the road is never smooth. but in the end all of your hard work, dedication, blood, sweat, and tears, they will pay off.
What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?
i don’t think any personal limitations have made their way onto my path yet.
Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?
No, i’m lucky enough to have my parents who support me and let me pave my own path. I also have a dance teacher who is extremely supportive in both dance and life.
How do you conquer negative talk?
I use it to fuel my dancing not to bring me down. I simply take the words and add it to my passion, there isn’t a better feeling than dancing out the hate.
What is your favorite quote?
“don’t wait for the storm to pass, learn to dance in the rain”
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Being shut down during this pandemic has made me realize just how much dance means to me. I am extremely ready to take my training to a whole new level.
