5 Things Every Serious Dancer Should Not Ignore and Every Dancer Should Know
The five things every serious dancer should not ignore are:
- You're beautiful the way you are.
- Your competition score or part in a dance doesn't determine your worth. You're MORE!
- Be a force for good.
- Never Quit.
- Trust the process.
- Bonus - Never try to fit in
- Bonus - Be enthusiastic
Alright, let me quickly explain each one, read on.
1. You're beautiful the way you are
Never try to fit in.
Nobody gets rewarded for looking like everybody else. Stay unique, stay different, stay kind. You'll feel better about being your own person and the right people will gravitate towards you.
2. Your competition score or part in a dance doesn't determine your worth. You're MORE!
What a competition judge or a casting director thinks does not determine who you are as a person. If you get rejected for a part or have a bad score, pick yourself up and say ‘OK not today, maybe tomorrow I'll get this other part or something. It's not my time yet, but still work hard. You're MORE
3. Be a force for good
Say "thank you" and mean it.
Always find the good in people. Encourage someone that is down
Be the light when it’s dark, and be the voice of positivity in the midst of negative
4. Never Quit
Have the courage to get started, and once you get started, the courage to not quit.
No matter who you are or how skilled you may be, there will be times when the going is hard, and unpleasant circumstances will overtake you. Very often at the precise moment you want to quit if you hold on a little bit longer breakthrough will happen.
5. Trust the process
What we are working towards is not as important as what happens to us while we are working. The process creates the end results. Trust and fall in love with the process. The process create and develops the future you.
*Bonus*. Be enthusiastic
Someone had said that enthusiasm is by far the highest paid quality on earth, probably because it is one of the rarest; yet it is one of the most contagious. Force yourself to act enthusiastic, and you'll become more enthusiastic. Here is an easy to get started. Look for "Aha!" moments" Oprah used to talk about "Aha!" moments on her talk show. "Aha!" moments are those moments in life when something happens that changes some aspect of your life for the better. Look for your "Aha!" moments. We said look be cause if you look, you'll find.
Once you find them, use emplafying words.
